A Kidnapped Santa Claus

Production Tips for
A Kidnapped Santa Claus

adapted by Mrs. Evelyn Merritt from L. Frank Baum

Christmas Eve approaches. Everything is ready to roll at the North Pole. But not everyone is happy for Santa and his "Ho ho ho!"

Plots and schemes are being hatched deep inside the mountain. Someone wants to kidnap Santa! That means no toys for good little girls and boys. But who would want such unhappiness at Christmas? And will their plan succeed?

Based on the story of the same name by L. Frank Baum, best-known for The Wizard of Oz.

Tips from past Producers

We used simple costumes for every one but each individual had a hand in designing a part of their special piece. (ie: wildflowers all had flowered headbands and they chose the colors; demons had matching shirt and pants but got to choose a particular style, color of hat with matching accessories.) We used simple special effects throughout the show, such as wind-up butterflies that flew out of the storybook when it was opened, magic holly that flew up the proscenium wall, and a pop open hot chocolate cup.
